How It Happened

• York would open up the scoring in the top of the second inning when Garrett Southern singled up the middle to bring home Jimmy Wiegers. In the top of the third, a Justin Kilpatrick single brought in Jack Barry as York extended their lead to 2-0.

• Both teams would score in the fourth inning to keep the score within two runs. Grant Oberholtzer singled up the middle to bring in Wiegers in the top half of the inning before back-to-back doubles by Nick Fuhrmann and Jared Mouton put the Bobcats on the board.

• In the bottom of the fifth, Bret Fogle led off the inning with a homer to left field and the York lead was cut to one. A Josh Clegg homer and a Mitch Fyffe single in the bottom of the sixth would give the Bobcats their first lead at 4-3. A lead-off homerun by Ryan Roell in the seventh would push the Bobcat lead to 5-3.

• York would have some two-out magic in the top of the eighth. Luke Turner led off the frame with a single and Bailey Doan singled to left to extend the inning. Oberholtzer would then blast a three-run shot just over the left field wall to give York the lead back 6-5 after eight innings.

• The Spartans would put a lot of space between them and the Bobcats in the top of the ninth scoring five runs on five hits getting RBIs from Kilpatrick, Turner, Wiegers, and Southern. The Bobcats were retired in order in the bottom of the ninth and York completed the comeback win with an 11-5 victory.
