#2 Spartans Open CAC Tournament on Wednesday Night vs. Frostburg State

YORK, PA – The York College men's lacrosse team begins their journey in the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference tournament on Wednesday evening against Frostburg State University. First face off is set for 7:00 pm at Kinsley Field.

The Spartans are the top seed in the tournament and enjoyed an opening round bye. The Bobcats, who are the tournament's fifth seed, knocked off fourth-seeded St. Mary's 12-10 in Saturday's quarterfinal round.

LAST TIME WE MET

The Spartans and Bobcats met exactly three weeks ago at Kinsley Field as the Spartans earned a hard fought 13-8 win. The Bobcats held a 5-3 lead at the break as the Spartans had a very difficult first half. In fact, it was just one of three times that the Spartans trailed at the half all year. The Green and White turned it on after the half as the outscored the Bobcats 7-2 in the third quarter and 10-3 in the second half overall.

Senior Thomas Pfeiffer led the Spartans with a school-record tying seven goals while he also had an assist in the win. Brendan McGrath added three goals, an assist, and a pair of ground balls. Billy Sasso went 15-for-23 at the X as he scooped up 10 ground balls. Jack Michael registered seven saves in net for the Spartans.

Matthew Ward and Jimmy Lucas each recorded a pair of goals to lead the Bobcats. Jack Marks made 12 saves in goal for the Bobcats.

 

SPARTANS IN THE CAC TOURNAMENT

The Spartans are 9-18 all-time in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament. The Spartans are 1-0 in the tournament against the Bobcats as York beat Frostburg 16-8 in the CAC Semifinals 365 days ago. The Spartans are looking to make their fourth consecutive trip to the championship game with a win over the Bobcats. The Spartans are 4-5 all-time in the semifinal round of the tournament. The Spartans are 7-6 under head coach Brandon Childs.
