Spartan Men Drop Spring Opener at Roanoke

SALEM, VA – The York College men's tennis team opened the spring portion of their schedule with a 6-3 setback on the road at Roanoke University in Sunday afternoon in Salem, Virginia.

1. Sam Innerst def. Grayson White 6-3, 6-0

2. Lukas Olson/Tyler Richard def. Jack Dorris/Thomas Hodges 8-5



The Spartans have now lost two straight after starting the year 5-1 … senior Sam Innerst picked up his 27th career victory with his first singles win … the match was Innerst's first at first singles after he went 6-1 in second singles in the fall … Roanoke has now won two straight after starting their spring season with four straight losses … Michael Spagnoli made his Spartan debut on Sunday as the dropped a hard fought sixth singles match, falling 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 … Josiah Forry improved to 5-2 in singles play for the year with his fourth singles win … Lukas Olson and Tyler Richard played doubles together for the first time this year and picked up the second doubles win.

The Spartans return to action on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to Elizabethtown to face the Blue Jays in a non-conference contest. The match is slated for a 3:30 pm start on Tuesday.
