YORK, PA – The Spartan men's tennis team dropped their 2019 regular season home finale on Saturday as they fell to Southern Virginia 7-2 in Capital Athletic Conference action.
The Knights improve to 11-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference. The Spartans fall to 7-9 overall and are now 1-5 in the CAC.
The Knights opened the match by sweeping the three doubles matches. SVU won the first singles match 8-6, the second doubles match 8-5 and the third doubles match 8-3.
The Knights captured the first four singles matches before York won the final two singles contests. Josiah Forry earned a 6-0, 6-3 win over Adam Kelly in the fifth singles match. Tyler Richard earned a 6-0, 6-2 win over William Stoddard in the sixth singles match to earn York's two points on the day.
The Spartans return to action next Saturday when they travel to Frostburg State University to complete their 2019 Capital Athletic Conference schedule. The match is slated for a noon start in Frostburg, Maryland.
