LYNCHBURG, VA – The York College men's tennis team remained unbeaten during their fall season as the Spartans downed Randolph College 8-1 on Friday afternoon in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Spartans improve to 6-0 while the Wildcats fall to 0-1.
The Spartans got off to a great start by sweeping the three doubles matches. Ben Sentz and Tej Laliwala outlasted Karson Healy and Nicolas Alvorado 8-7 (11-9) in the first doubles match. Tyler Richard and Jack Leinbach combined to down Alex Kulviat and Jose Merhej 8-1 in the second doubles match. Josiah Forry and Michael Spagnoli won the third doubles match via forfeit.
The Wildcats picked up their lone point in the first singles match but the Spartans would come back and sweep the final five points to roll to the 8-1 win. Laliwala earned a 6-2, 6-4 second singles win over Alex Kulviat. Richard cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Healy in the third singles match. Forry posted a 6-2, 6-0 fourth singles win over Merhej while Spagnoli shutout John Coffron 6-0, 6-0 in the fifth singles match. Leinbach earned a sixth singles win via forfeit.
The Spartans conclude their fall schedule with a Capital Athletic Conference match on Saturday at Southern Virginia. The match is slated for an 11:30 am start in Buena Vista.
