Hursey's Big Day Powers #8 Spartans Past Denison in Regular Season Finale

YORK, PA – The eighth-ranked York College Spartans women's lacrosse squad ended their regular season with a 17-3 win over Denison in a non-conference contest on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon at Kinsley Field. The Spartans finished the regular season winning seven of their final eight games of the season.

How It Happened:

• The Spartans seized control of the game early as Devin Hursey opened the scoring just 40 seconds into the game off a beautiful feed from Meghan Fox to give York the 1-0 lead. Hursey scored again just under three minutes later as the Green and White led 2-0. The Big Red got a Lindsey Karsh goal at the 23:25 mark, trimming York's lead to 2-1.

• The Spartans then put a stranglehold on the game as they ripped off seven straight goals to give York a commanding 9-1 lead with 3:25 left in the half. Hursey and Caitlin Rankin each scored a pair of goals on the run. Denison closed out the first half scoring with a Liza Franham goal 2:19 before the half.

• The Spartans kept rolling in the second half as Jordan Conley and Fox scored to open the stanza for the Spartans. Hope Adams found the back of the cage for the Big Red to make it 11-3 with 17:07 left in the game. York closed out the contest with a six goal run to provide for the final 17-3 margin of victory.

The Spartans begin postseason play on Saturday afternoon as they host Southern Virginia in the Capital Athletic Conference Quarterfinals. The Spartans are the tournament's second seed while the Knights are the seventh seed in the tournament. First draw is set for 3:00 pm.
