YORK, PA – The York College women's soccer team came up short against the 6thranked TCNJ Lions 1-0 on a crisp Wednesday evening in York.

Match #11

Final Score: York 0 – TCNJ 1

Records: York 4-7, TCNJ 8-1

Shots: York 1, TCNJ 18

Shots on Goal: York 0, TCNJ 9

Corner Kicks: York 0, TCNJ 9

Saves: York 8, TCNJ 0

How It Happened:

• The first half saw very few shots, including the Spartans going without a shot through the first period. The Lions dominated possession but were unable to find any cracks in a stingy Spartan defense that included four saves from Jess Wieber.

• The Lions finally got on the board when Nikki Butler was able to find the back of the net off of a rebound after a sprawling save by Wieber on an initial shot to give the Lions a 1-0 advantage in the 54th minute.

• The Spartans could not create many dangerous chances in the second half and even though the defense held strong, the one goal in the second for the Lions proved to be too much for York to overcome and they fell 1-0 in a defensive struggle.

Nicole DiPasquale (TCNJ): 90 minutes played, 0 goals against, 0 saves (Win, 6-1)

York is 0-2-0 all-time against the Lions … the loss was the fourth shutout defeat for the Spartans this season … this was the first team all year York did not attempt a shot in a half … the one total shot was also the fewest for an entire game for the Spartans all season … sophomore keeper Jess Wieber made her first start of the season … her eight saves was the third most in her career for a single game and highest since a ten save performance against Mary Washington last October 7 … the Spartans are now .500 at home with a 3-3 record.
