WESTMINSTER, MD – The York College women's soccer team dropped another close non-conference contest as they fell to McDaniel College 1-0 on Saturday in Westminster, Maryland. The Spartans fall to 0-3 with all three losses coming by one goal.

How It Happened:

• McDaniel had the offense clicking early as they put two shots on goal in the first 6:14 of the game. Freshman goalie Jillian Kozak was up to the task with a pair of saves. The Green Terror would continue to press York and that pressure resulted in a Hannah Schepers goal in the 28th minute of play. The goal was unassisted.

• The majority of the first half was spent in the Spartans' defensive third as the Green Terror outshot York 7-0 including 5-0 in shots on goal.

• The Green Terror continued to push for a second goal but a Kozak save and a crossbar kept the York deficit at one. The Spartans finally recorded a shot in the 56th minute. A Spartan defensive team save in the 63rd minute preserved the score but York would continue to struggle to gain any significant offensive footing. York did manage to put three shots on goal in the final 13 minutes of play but Green Terror goalie Katherine Carstensen would be up to the task as she earned her first clean sheet of the year.

Notes:

York is now 4-5-1 all-time against the Green Terror as McDaniel has won five straight in the series … the last Spartan win over McDaniel came on September 11, 2013 when York registered a 4-2 win in Westminster … the Spartans suffered their first shutout loss of the year … York did not record a first half shot and were limited to a season low six shots in the game … that is the lowest shot total in ten games as York was held to one shot in the October 3, 2018 loss at TCNJ … freshman Jillian Kozak made her collegiate debut with seven saves in the loss.
