Spartan Women Close Out Fall Campaign

YORK, PA – The York College women's tennis team saw their 2018 fall campaign come to an end on Tuesday with an 8-1 loss to Goucher College. The loss was the Spartans' first of the fall as they finish with a record of 5-1. The Gophers improve to 3-1 with the victory.

Goucher swept the three doubles point with the closest match being the third doubles which the Gophers won 8-6 over Caroline Marderness and Lauren Ostermann.

York's lone victory came from Marderness in the fifth singles match as she outlasted Ali Tomasevich 7-6 (11-9), 6-2. Chloe Doyle and Hannah Shinsky each lost in three sets in the third and fourth singles matches.

The Spartans had their five match win streak snapped … York played without first singles standout Rachel Wagner and third singles stalwart Maisie Supp who were unavailable due to academic requirements … the loss snaps a five match win streak against the Gophers … Goucher's last win in the series came on October 6, 2012.
