YORK, PA – The York College volleyball team had three players selected to All-Capital Athletic Conference teams. Senior Alexis Harbold was selected to the first-team while senior outside-hitter Brooke Krebs and junior middle-hitter Madyson Whitcomb earned second-team honors.
Harbold earned her second All-CAC honors during her senior campaign after being named to the second-team last season. Harbold led the conference with 5.73 digs per set and was fifth in the league with 487 total digs. She had 13 matches of at least 20 digs including a seven-game stretch with 20 or more digs. Harbold also recorded 42 digs in a win over Gettysburg.
Krebs, an outside hitter, tallied 279 kills good for fifth-most in the conference and 2.76 kills per set which was fourth-most in the CAC. She finished the year with a team-leading 317 points. In 28 matches, Krebs had 16 matches with double-digit kills including ending the season with six consecutive such matches where she totaled 78 kills during that stretch. She also added 22 service aces on the year.
Whitcomb, a middle hitter, finished her junior campaign with 249 kills and 2.42 kills per set. She led all middle hitters in kills and kills per set in the conference. She had nine matches with double-digit kills including a career-high 23 kills in a win over Messiah. Whitcomb had a three-game stretch where she tallied 54 kills in just nine sets. She was also stout on defense with a team-leading 96 blocks at the net.
The trio helped the Green and White to a 20-9 record, including a CAC tournament victory over Frostburg State. The Spartans' 4-3 conference record was enough to earn the third seed for the conference tournament.
While the Spartans will say goodbye to Harbold and Krebs, Whitcomb will return to attempt to repeat a stellar junior year for the 2019 season.
