LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The York College women's cross country squad had a very good day at the grueling Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University at Dream Park in Logan Township, New Jersey on Saturday.
The Spartans finished 11th of 39 teams as the Green and White totaled 343 points. Johns Hopkins won the team championship with a staggering score of 33 as the Blue Jays placed four runners in the top nine. SUNY Geneseo finished second with 84 points. York was the top finishing Capital Athletic Conference team in the event.
Top Spartan Finishers
• York got a pair of top PRs from their top two finishers as Taylor Barkdoll and Jess DelViscio finished back-to-back. Barkdoll recorded a time of 22:43.1, good for 50th place. DelViscio was 0.1 second behind her teammate in 51st place.
• Freshman Jordan Haberstroh was York's next finisher as she crossed the line in a time of 23:08.1, good for a 73rd place finish. Senior Alayna De Bruin was next, posting a time of 23:16.8 to finish 89th.
• Sophomore Emma Rogers was York's fifth finisher as she notched a PR of 23.21.6 to finish 99th in the 345 runner field.

"The women started off the day with a great race," said head coach Stephen LoBianco. "The focus today was closing down the one to five split to below 40 seconds and they were able to do that today, cutting it to 38 seconds. We placed 11th behind seven NCAA ranked teams."
This is the final tune up race before the Spartans head to Buena Vista, Virginia in two weeks to participate in the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference Championship meet on Saturday, October 27 … the day featured a pair of races as there was a championship flight and an open race … the Spartans finished eighth in the open race … Steph Becker was York's top finisher in the open race as she notched a time of 25:46.8 … the Green and White got three other PRs on the day as Nicole Wsserleben, Danielle Andrews, and Emily Broda all posted career bests for York.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, October 27 when they travel to Southern Virginia University to participate in the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference championships in Buena Vista, Virginia. The action is slated for an 11:00 am start.
